Macon-Villages is an appellation covering white wines produced in selected communes of the Maconnais wine area of southern Burgundy. The appellation represents a step up in quality from the standard Macon title and specializes in dry white wines made from the Chardonnay grape variety. The Cave de l'Aurore produces this very nice quality, Mâcon-Villages. The vineyards are situated around the village of Lugny, and benefit from a predominantly southern exposure. The wine is vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks (no oak!), and retains a lovely delicate flavor on the palate. Very harmonious, balanced, joyful and friendly. Light honey and apple, a simple yet utterly pleasant wine.
