How often can you purchase a Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvingon with the name Lafite-Rothschild on the bottle for under $15? Not often unless you take a trip down to South America and visit their vineyards in Chile. It's here that we found the two sibling estates of Las Huertas and Los Vascos. One of the oldest vineyards in Chile, Los Vascos traces its roots to approximately 1750 as the original vineyard of Miguel Echenique. In the 1980's the vineyards were purchased by the Lafite-Rothschild family and both Las Huertas and Los Vascos quickly became two of the top selling wines from South America. Red fruits, pepper, cedar and tobacco on the nose with ultra-fine tannins and subtle berry and smoked bacon on the finish. Amazing value...It's a Lafite-Rothschild Cabernet for under $15 a bottle!
"An attractive Cabernet Sauvignon with blackcurrant, tobacco and some spice. It’s medium-bodied with round tannins and a flavorful finish. Very typical for a cab. 85% Cabernet, 10% Syrah and 5% Carmenere. Delicious now." James Suckling, 92 Points
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cromas Gran Reserva is the first vintage for a wine that is also 10% Syrah and 5% Carménère from Peralillo, Colchagua, and half aged in French barrels. Garnet red with violet flecks. The nose begins with black pepper and black currant, followed by ripe cherry and plum notes, along with a hint of bay leaf. Creamy in the mouth with accomplished, ample and polished tannins that retain their grip, this is a potent red with long-lasting flavor." Vinous Media, 91 Points
